Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted every year combined by the ISc, Bangalore and other seven IIT’s on behalf of the National Coordinating Board, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development. The question paper is becoming tougher every year due to the increase in competition for the examination. The Score obtained in the GATE examination is applicable for three years. The examination is an entrance for various Post Graduate Programmes (ME, M.Tech, MS, Direct PhD.) in institutes like IITs and IISc. The candidates even obtain financial help from the Government depending on the score secured in the test. The Better scores in the examination is also an entry for various Government jobs. A large number of Government and Private Institutes consider this GATE score as short listing criteria for various posts in their organisation.

The GATE question paper is prepared separately for all the Branches. The examination is held on separate dates. The candidates will have t attend different types o questions depending on their branches. The total number of questions for the examination is 65. The examination is held for a total of 100 marks. The first part of the question paper consists of General Aptitude which will contain 5 question which carries 1 mark each. The second section is a combination of  Technical and Engineering Mathematic.The rest of the questions in the test paper will be from this section. The wrong attempt will be deduced marks.

Preparation for GATE 2017

The question paper will contain both multiple choice questions and numerical type. The candidate will have to find the right choice since the wrong attempt will be deducted marks. The candidates preparing for the examination are advised t refer the previous year question paper patterns. The analysis of the question paper will help the candidate to get a pattern of the questions. Give equal importance to theoretical and numerical type questions. The group study carried by the students will help the candidate to improve since it helps us obtain new ideas and new methods of solving the questions.
